In the coming days, the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce and local businesses will be partnering to raise money for a memorial in Dimmick Park to two sisters who died in a house fire in the borough last month.
The annual Saucon Valley Easter Egg Hunt was held in Hellertown’s Dimmick Park Saturday, where hundreds had fun hunting for the colorful eggs the day before Easter.
Although the weather isn’t expected to be quite as nice as it was Friday, the conditions for Saturday’s Saucon Valley Easter Egg Hunt in Hellertown’s Dimmick Park should still be “egg-cellent.”
For many years, anyone who plans to serve alcohol at an event in a Hellertown park has been required to obtain a waiver, because alcohol is prohibited in the borough’s parks. Council is now poised to eliminate what amounts to red tape for both borough staff and event planners by abolishing the waiver requirement.
The Saucon Valley area is already well-known for its verdant parks and recreational facilities such as the Saucon Rail Trail. There is always room for improvement, however, and that’s what will be happening to the area’s park network thanks to more than $300,000 in grant awards from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
The story of the nativity is celebrated each holiday season in the form of demonstrations and recreations, and Hellertown’s upcoming Light & Life event will bring that tradition to life in Dimmick Park later this month.
Although the coronavirus pandemic isn’t over, the smiles and laughter at Friday night’s holiday season kickoff in Saucon Valley–Light Up Night–were enough to make many who were there forget about the trials it has brought over the last 20 months for a bit.
Members of the Hellertown community are excited for the return of Light Up Night, the borough’s holiday kickoff event. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 26 from 5 to 9 p.m., and its agenda will feature some exciting new additions.
