Snow on Nov. 15? It could happen, according to the current extended forecast for Hellertown on WeatherUnderground.com, which predicts that about a quarter inch of melted precipitation will fall.
Admittedly, forecasts that extend more than a week out are often unreliable. However, Accuweather is also forecasting a chance of snow in the Lehigh Valley on Nov. 14-15. According to their forecast, “a bit of snow” could fall during the overnight hours, followed by “periods of snow, then rain,” with highs in the low 40s on Saturday, Nov. 15.
Regional forecasting service Eastern Pennsylvania Weather Authority doesn’t have a day-by-day forecast that extends to Nov. 15, but on the service’s popular Facebook page, its meteorologists announced that their 2014-2015 winter outlook will be released to the public on Monday, Nov. 10.
Snow in the Lehigh Valley in mid-November is unusual but certainly not unheard of, unlike the 2011 “Snowtober” storm that dumped more than six inches of snow on the region and caused massive power outages due to downed trees and wires.
Whether it ultimately snows on Nov. 15 or not, this is certainly a good time of year to prepare for dealing with the inevitable winter weather our region will receive.
