A popular community event that raises money for the American Cancer Society while celebrating cancer survivorship and remembering those who have lost the battle is right around the corner.
Relay for Life of Saucon Valley will be held from Friday, May 15 at 5 p.m. to Saturday, May 16 at 5 p.m. in Hellertown’s Dimmick Park, 509 Durham Street.
The annual event features relay teams who complete a 24-hour walkathon around the park, where there are also numerous vendors, food and live entertainment.
The relay is always bookended by opening/closing ceremonies that highlight inspiring stories of survival and help raise awareness about the ongoing fight against cancer.
According to the Relay for Life of Saucon Valley page on the American Cancer Society website, 15 teams with a total of 54 participants will be part of this year’s relay. As of April 22, those participants had already raised more than $13,000.
