A Lower Saucon Township resident’s Social Security number was reportedly used to file a fraudulent tax return last month; an action that was discovered when the resident filed a real return April 15, police said in a news release Friday.

According to police, the victim–a resident of the 2200 block of Koehler Drive–contacted the IRS to deny filing the fraudulent return.

“Persons are urged to protect their vital information online to prevent an occurrence such as this,” police said.

Anyone with information about this incidence of identity theft should contact township police at 610-317-6110.
