According to a news release issued by police Wednesday, when the fire extinguisher was discharged the school’s fire alarm system was activated, triggering a response by emergency officials including Se-Wy-Co Volunteer Fire Co., Southeastern Fire Dept. and Steel City Vol. Fire Co.

Police said that in the wake of the June 4 incident they reviewed video surveillance footage from the school and identified the two boys as possible suspects.

“Both males were interviewed and admitted to setting off the fire extinguisher,” police said.

One of the boys was charged with disorderly conduct, according to the news release. The other boy has been charged with disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and causing or risking a catastrophe, and referred to Northampton County Juvenile Probation authorities, police said.
