A southbound car that struck an embankment along a rural road early Friday was “launched” into the air and struck a tree about six feet above the ground, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Monday.

According to police, the car was disabled by the accident and was discovered “with no driver around” on private property in the 2300 block of Ringhoffer around 1 a.m.

Police said the driver was subsequently identified as Holly Frederick, of the 2900 block of Klein Street, Allentown.

According to police, Klein said she swerved to avoid a deer in the road.

A friend reportedly gave her a ride out of the area, and when asked why she didn’t report the crash to authorities, police said Klein told them that “it was late and I did not know exactly what to do.”

She will be cited for failure to report an accident, police said.
