Council Cites DUI Arrest in Vote to Terminate Hellertown Police Officer

Hellertown Borough Council cited a “recent DUI arrest” in voting unanimously Tuesday night to terminate a full-time borough police officer who once headed the department’s Block Watch program.

Ofc. Tim Piotrowski–who was hired in 2011–was terminated for “conduct unbecoming a police officer” following an investigation by Police Chief Robert Shupp, according to a statement that was read at the meeting and later shared with Saucon Source by borough manager Cathy Hartranft.

It was not clear when or where the arrest happened, as council stated it would have no further comment on the matter and a Google search yielded no results.

The state statute that was cited in the motion to terminate Piotrowski is Title 53, PA Statute 46190(4).

In other business at the meeting, the borough hired Jacob Yonney and Casey Koch as public works employees.
