Developer Sees Bright Future for Hellertown

Est. Read Time: 2 mins

Developer Lou Pektor is already leaving his imprint on Hellertown, with the construction of a new two-story professional building in the heart of the borough’s downtown business district.

But he’s not done yet.

At a Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce roundtable meeting Wednesday, Pektor said he hopes to build another commercial building in town because the borough has “a lot to offer.”

“Hellertown is getting a lot of attention in our world,” he told the group, which included about 25 business owners, elected officials and chamber representatives.

Pektor said his Bethlehem-based Ashley Development Corp. is currently in talks with several local banks about future development plans in the borough.

One of the things he said makes Hellertown so attractive is the high traffic count on Main Street (Rt. 412), which is around 20,000 vehicles per day in the downtown.

Pektor said the building currently under construction in the 700 block of Main Street on the site of the former Murray Motors will house medical offices that will employ about 40 people. Patients will be coming and going all day, he added.

The chamber-sponsored roundtable at the Hellertown Area Library was the first of its kind to be held recently, and was open to both chamber members and non-members from the Hellertown-Lower Saucon business community.

Another open roundtable event is tentatively scheduled to be held Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on Cherry Lane in Bethlehem.
