The intersection of Silvex Road and Rt. 412 at the end of the I-78 westbound on- and off-ramps in Bethlehem is one of the busiest in the area. The area remains under construction as a result of PennDOT’s $36 million Rt. 412 widening project.

The borough of Hellertown shared a news release from PennDOT officials Monday warning that signal work and line painting at a busy intersection next to I-78 will result in “intermittent stoppages” between 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 and 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

During that time a single travel lane will be maintained and controlled by flaggers through the intersection of Silvex Road and Rt. 412 (Hellertown Road) in Bethlehem.

The work will allow traffic onto the newly-constructed Silvex Road lanes when it is completed.

Motorists should expect delays in the area, proceed with caution and consider use of alternate routes, the statement said.
