A Lower Saucon Township man will be charged with two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, police say, after he allegedly implicated himself in the theft of two money orders from his mother during phone calls he made from inside Northampton County Prison.

In a news release issued Wednesday, police said Jason Swiderski, 39, of the 1900 block of Leithsville Road, became a suspect in the case involving the theft of $1,350 in money orders from Patricia Swiderski, 73, also of Lower Saucon, after she reported the money orders stolen on Oct. 27.

Since Swiderski was “already” an inmate at the prison, police said they obtained recordings of outgoing phone calls he made from the correctional facility, during which he allegedly incriminated himself in the case.

“During (a) phone call, Jason admitted to having the…money orders in his possession at one point,” police said. “In another phone call, Jason advised his mother to just put all the blame on him in regards to the money orders, and not a possible co-suspect in the case.”

Police said one of the money orders was for $1,000 and the other was for $350.
