A Lower Saucon Township man is free on bail after being charged with allegedly putting a machete to his wife’s neck, according to published news reports and court records.

Logan F. Schoenly, 28, of the 3600 block of Old Philadelphia Pike, allegedly held the large knife to his wife’s throat after an argument escalated early Sunday morning.

The Morning Call reported that police were called to the Schoenly residence shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, and observed cuts on Schoenly’s wife’s neck and hands.

According to an Express-Times article, Schoenly was not at home when authorities arrived, but was later arrested on a warrant that was issued.

Schoenly is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment, according to court records. The records indicate he was freed from Northampton County Prison Monday after posting 10 percent of the $10,000 bail set by District Judge David Tidd of Lower Saucon Township.

Schoenly’s preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled to be held Feb. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Tidd’s courtroom.
