In a news release issued Tuesday, police said Thomas Liska, 47, of the 1600 block of Woodfield Drive, was picked up by a passer-by after the 10:13 p.m. accident, which he said occurred when he swerved to miss an animal in the road.

Liska then struck several wooden posts and finally collided with a tree, police said.

When the wrecked vehicle was found–thanks to an OnStar alert–police said “officers were concerned the driver may be injured and nearby.” Consequently they scoured the area with assistance from the Lehigh University Police Department.

Police said Liska called them the next day to report that he had been in an accident.
