James R. Cooney Jr., 63, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Julie A. (Repash) Cooney. He was born in Ashley on May 28, 1952 to the late James R. Sr. and Elizabeth J. (Brady) Cooney. James was a shipper at Cold Storage, Orefield for five years, then a truck driver for 10 years with independent companies, and then a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel for more than 20 years. He was a member of White Haven Sportsman’s Club.
SURVIVORS
In addition to his wife of 15 years; children: Robert J. (Virginia M.) of Hellertown, Rebecca S. (David A.) Gauche of Bethlehem, Richard J. (Karen L.) of Hellertown; siblings: Edward of Fountain Hill, Michael of Fountain Hill, Bridget Vasquez in Texas; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Patrick.
