A Hellertown man on probation for a recent conviction for bigamy was jailed in lieu of $5,000 straight bail early Sunday, after police say he was involved in a domestic disturbance in the first block of E. Depot Street at 11:36 p.m. Saturday.

In a news release issued Tuesday, police said Jason E. Griswold, 37, was arraigned on charges of simple assault and summary harassment after he was taken into custody.

The news release lists Griswold’s address as being in the first block of 11th Avenue, Haddon Heights, N.J., however court documents list it as being in Hellertown.

Griswold was sentenced to three years of probation by Bucks County authorities in February, after he pleaded guilty last November to charges of forgery, tampering with public records and bigamy.

In that case, the Bucks County District Attorney’s office said Griswold forged a divorce decree because he believed his first wife would never grant him a divorce, and his second wife would not have dated him if she believed he still was married.
