It’s been a long road–both literally and figuratively–for Saucon Valley residents and business owners who have weathered the side effects of PennDOT’s nearly four-year, $36 million-plus widening and improvement of Rt. 412 between the north end of Hellertown and the Sands casino in south Bethlehem. However, the project is entering its final stages, and is scheduled to be completed in November.

According to information released by PennDOT Thursday, preparations for milling and paving of the road between Hellertown and Daly Avenue in Bethlehem will begin Monday, Aug. 29.

The milling work will be followed by paving, which is expected to last through the month of September and will result in temporary lane closures and lane shifts.

“One lane will be maintained in each direction,” PennDOT said, “however, (motorists should) be prepared for possible delays in this area.”
