A little pink bling could cost a Bethlehem man a lot in terms of his driving privileges and resulted in another DUI charge against him–his second in less than four months, according to court records.
Hellertown Police said in a news release Tuesday that Orlando Gonzalez Rivera, 35, of the 300 block of Crest Avenue, was stopped in the 1100 block of Main Street at 9:45 p.m. Sunday “for driving with pink headlights.”
Gonzalez Rivera was subsequently found to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested, police said.
Since he refused a blood test, according to authorities, Gonzalez Rivera will automatically lose his driving privileges for a year regardless of whether he is ultimately found guilty.
He has been charged with DUI and cited for a summary traffic violation–for the pink headlights–police said.
According to Northampton County court records, Gonzalez Rivera was previously charged with DUI and DUI-Highest Rate of Alcohol (BAC .16+, first offense) in the city of Bethlehem on July 5.
A preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph K. Barner was waived Oct. 13 and Gonzalez Rivera was released on $1,500 unsecured bail, with his case transferred to the Court of Common Pleas on Oct. 18, the records state.
A formal arraignment in that case is scheduled for Dec. 20.
