Christ Lutheran Hellertown’s popular “Thirsty Thursday & Theology” conversation series is returning to Braveheart Highland Pub in Hellertown in March and April, and the focus this time will be the subject of discrimination.
The goal of the meetings, according to a news release, will be to foster an open, honest conversation “with people who have experienced discrimination” and to help open others’ eyes to the social injustice of bigotry.
The question: “What kind of discrimination exists in Hellertown?” is one that will also be asked by series moderator Pastor Phil Spohn, who is described in the news release as “a discriminator who wants to have an honest discussion with a variety of people in order to help our society heal its diversity.”
Two discussions–open to the public–will be held in the restaurant’s Lowlands Bar (downstairs) at 430 Main St., Hellertown, on Thursday, March 30 and Thursday, April 6 from 7 to 8 p.m.
The March 30 discussion will be about diagnosing discrimination and will require self-evaluation, while the April 6 meeting, “Prescription for Change,” will be about what can be done to help combat discrimination.
Those who have experienced the pain of discrimination and those who haven’t are invited to attend this special dialogue with an open mind.
