Saucon Valley School District Superintendent Monica McHale-Small will announce her resignation less than six months after her current three-year contract was renewed amid protest by some parents who circulated a petition requesting a community survey first be undertaken, the Morning Call reported Monday in a story which cited school board member Ed Inghrim as a source.
According to the article, Inghrim said McHale-Small told the board she would be resigning at their Feb. 28 meeting, but has not returned requests for comment. A second unidentified source confirmed she will leave Saucon Valley at the end of the school year, but it is unclear what she plans to do next, the newspaper report said.
McHale-Small’s reported decision comes in the midst of a closely-watched primary election campaign in which eight candidates–including incumbents John Dowling and Sandra Miller–are vying for four seats on the board.
Saucon Source is sponsoring a public school board candidates’ forum Friday, March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Dewey Fire Co. Social Hall, 502 Durham St., Hellertown.
There will be a Saucon Valley School Board meeting Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the high school Audion room.
