In a news release, police said Desean Redwine, 22, of Viola Lane, “was continuously following a Hellertown officer and then approached this Hellertown officer in an aggressive manner” at approximately 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 9 on Main Street.

According to court records, Redwine is also facing citations for several alleged traffic violations, including Improper Movement (Green Arrow), Obscured Plates-Illegible at Reasonable Distance and Operating With Unsafe Equipment.

Redwine has been in the news before for allegedly threatening to stab a Northampton County sheriff’s deputy and kill his family, and writing an obscenity as well as drawing a swastika on a courthouse window with his own saliva.

According to court records, in that case, in exchange for several disorderly conduct charges being withdrawn, Redwine pleaded guilty to one count of Terroristic Threats Causing Serious Public Inconvenience–a first-degree misdemeanor–and was sentenced in October 2016 by Judge Leonard N. Zito to 1 to 3 months in jail, with credit for time served, and 36 months of probation.

He was also required to attend and successfully complete an anger management program, pay court costs and have no contact with the deputy and his family, the records indicate.
