A Bethlehem man was charged with public drunkenness at a local restaurant after police say his state of intoxication caused annoyance to staff and other customers.

In a news release Monday, police said Matthew Lerch, 44, of the 500 block of E. Fourth St., was in the Subway in the Saucon Square shopping center on Rt. 378 around noon May 20 when he allegedly “began stumbling about the establishment while other customers were present.”

This behavior “caused concern and annoyance,” Lower Saucon Township police said.
