Weekend Wrestling Tournament Update #1 (Brought to You by Spirk Brothers Inc.)

The Panthers made their way to the Beast of the East tournament this weekend at the University of Delaware.

Chad Shirk and his Saucon Valley Panthers made their way down I-95 for a challenging weekend tournament known as “The Beast of the East“.  Taking place on the campus of the University of Delaware, The Beast has a rock-solid reputation as one of the most competitive high school wrestling tournaments in the United States.  Heavy hitters like Blair Academy, Bergen Catholic and Bethlehem Catholic are joined by teams from as far away as Florida and Texas. 120 schools from across the nation (including Saucon Valley!) have, once again, come to take on The Beast!

Beast of the East Update (Saturday’s Results):

As a team Saucon Valley is currently in 32nd place.  Individually, the Panthers have four wrestlers who survived The Beast on Saturday.  Josh Jones, Jason Jones, Angelo Mahaffey and Dane Csencsits have advanced to Sunday’s action.

Blue Mountain Junior High Tournament

As the Varsity wrestlers were trying to tame The Beast, the Saucon Valley junior high wrestlers participated in a one-day tournament at Blue Mountain High School on Saturday.

As a squad the Saucon Valley junior high wrestlers finished fourth out of 26 teams.  Local, big-school powers like Nazareth and BECA as well as teams from afar like Bellefonte and Biglerville participated in the tourney.  It was a very good showing for the Panthers!
