Hellertown Dentist is New President of PA Academy of General Dentistry

A Hellertown dentist known for her professionalism, level of expertise and community commitment over nearly 30 years in business in the borough has been named president of the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry, which is a constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Ann Hunsicker-Morrissey, DMD, MAGD, was sworn in as the new president of the PAGD at its annual meeting in Allentown April 20.

Dr. Hunsicker-Morrissey has been in practice as the owner of Hellertown Dental Group since 1989, with her office located at 1213 Main Street.

A Lehighton native and Lower Saucon Township resident with her family, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Penn State University and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After her graduation from Penn in 1988, Dr. Hunsicker-Morrissey achieved a Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry and soon thereafter opened her practice.

Many area residents may recognize the Hellertown Dental Group building for its distinctive “tooth” sign at the corner of Main Street and Linden Avenue, as well its overflowing flower boxes during the summer months.

With her new position, Dr. Hunsicker-Morrissey plans to help her fellow members maintain a commitment to continuing education and training at levels that go above and beyond the PA State Board of Dentistry’s requirements.

One of her goals is to advance the value and excellence of dentistry–from general practice to implants–through educational initiatives for fellow dentists and their patients.

Dr. Hunsicker-Morrissey succeeds Andrew Stewart, DMD, MAGD, ABGD, of Fredericksburg as president.

In addition to the PAGD, she is a member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the Lehigh Valley Dental Society, the American Association of Women Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry.
