Northampton County Parks and Recreation will host a free public program about bats at Louise W. Moore Park (Pavilion 1) on Friday, Oct. 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The program will feature Sue Gallagher, Chief Naturalist at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center, who will discuss local bat species, dispel common myths and highlight the importance of bats in ecosystems. Attendees will also learn about the hazards bats face and how they can help bat populations in their communities.

Gallagher will bring one or two live fruit bats to the program. The animals serve as educational ambassadors for the 1,400 bat species found worldwide.

The program will be canceled only if severe weather occurs. Online registration is required and can be completed here.
