The Saucon Valley Spirit Parade Committee has announced that this year’s spirit parade will be held in Hellertown on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. As always, donations are needed to ensure that the beloved free community event goes off without a hitch.
“We are planning on a six-division parade,” parade chairman, Mayor David Heintzelman, said in a letter to potential donors Tuesday. “Because of the generosity of this community in the past we have always been able to meet our budgeted amount.”
Heintzelman said requests for donations will be made on social media and in person at events during the months of August and September.
The premier parade sponsorship opportunities for local businesses are the six $500 band or musical group sponsorships.
Each group will lead one of the six divisions, and the band sponsor will be recognized with their name on a large banner carried by cheerleaders in front of it.
“We are most grateful for whatever your budget allows,” Heintzelman said.
“With your support and enthusiasm the Saucon Valley Spirit Parade will be a success, as in the past,” he added.
Checks may be made payable to “Saucon Valley Spirit Parade” and mailed to:
SAUCON VALLEY SPIRIT PARADE
326 Main St., Hellertown, PA 18055
Donors will receive confirmation that their donation has been received.

Heintzelman noted in his letter that there will be a Sponsorship Division for participants who would like to display their community spirit as well as a work truck or banner.
“Or just walk in the parade to tell the community that you have helped,” he said.
He added that everyone who attends this year’s parade–participant or spectator–is encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes, in keeping with what is always a festive day in Saucon Valley.
There is no rain date for the parade.
Note: This year’s Trick-or-Treat in Hellertown borough and Lower Saucon Township will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.
