Carnival Continues Through Saturday, Fireworks are Friday (Photos)

The Dewey Fire Company Carnival in Hellertown’s Dimmick Park continues through Saturday, July 21. The carnival will be open Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m., with fireworks scheduled for 10 p.m. Friday (rain date: Saturday at 10 p.m.).

Updated Dewey Carnival Schedule Issued; Color Run Canceled

The start of the Dewey Fire Co. 100th Anniversary Carnival is now less than a month away, and chairman Dave Heintzelman issued an updated schedule of events for the highly-anticipated six-day festival last week. In it, he noted that the planned color run has been canceled due to a lack of support. It’s possible that a color run will planned during a future carnival, he said. This year’s carnival will be held Tuesday, July 14 to Sunday, July 19 in and around Hellertown’s Dimmick Park.

Historical Society to Host ‘Shopping at the Mill,’ Car Show April 26

The Hellertown Historical Society has announced that it will host an antique car show and a vendor fair at the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill on Sunday, April 26. The Model A Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and “Shopping at the Mill” will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and feature local vendors selling jewelry, chocolate, handmade accessories and more. Just in time for Mother’s Day, kids’ photos with a take-home frame will be sold for a nominal fee. A live musical performance by the Lehigh Valley Idols is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A free raffle, food, and tours of the historic mill are also on tap. The grist mill is located at 150 W. Walnut St., Hellertown.

100th Anniversary Dewey Carnival Will Feature Color Run, Bikefest

The 100th anniversary Dewey Fire Company Carnival will be held in Hellertown’s Dimmick Park and at the fire company next door from Tuesday, July 14 to Sunday, July 19, 2015. In addition to rides, games and food, this year’s carnival will feature a number of special events, such as a motorcycle festival (“Bikefest”) featuring an appearance by reality TV star Paul Teutel Sr. of Orange County Choppers, a Color Run, and the Dewey Fire Co. Centennial Carnival Celebration Cruise (a classic car show/cruise). A different concert is planned for each day of the carnival, although some of the acts have yet to be named. Traditional draws–such as the popular $20 Ride Night and a Friday night fireworks show–will also be part of the 2015 Dewey carnival.
