Ho, ho, ho... Someone big and jolly is coming to Giant just before Christmas, where he will be accompanied by Lower Saucon's finest.
National Night Out will again be celebrated by the Lower Saucon Township Police Department and the Saucon Valley community on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m., with an evening full of fun activities planned at the ballfield at Town Hall Park. Best of all, nearly everything will be free for local residents to enjoy.
The Upper Saucon Township Police Department was recently invited to a special event held by the fourth grade class at Joseph P. Liberati Southern Lehigh Intermediate School in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
The Lower Saucon Township Police Department will host a "Coffee with a Cop" event at the GIANT Food Store on Rt. 412 on Wednesday, May 22 from 9 to 11 a.m.
“Officers feel that they don’t have the support of elected officials,” John English, Edgeworth Borough’s chief of police, told the House Majority Policy Committee. “In general, a lot of police officers are upset and questioning whether they should stay in the profession."
If you see a scruffy-looking police officer in Hellertown borough or Lower Saucon Township this November, there's no need to call the 'style police' on them. The sight of facial hair on our normally clean-shaven local cops may be jarring, but it is all for a good cause.

The second Coffee With Cops in Hellertown this year was held Monday at Mountainview Moravian Church, and provided residents an opportunity to meet and mingle with the borough's police officers in an informal atmosphere.
An event meant to help foster positive relations between borough police and residents was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Hellertown Monday and--judging from the turnout--was a success.
