The Hellertown Police Department has officially joined the thousands of other law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. that rely on body-worn cameras to help keep officers and members of the public safe.
The Hellertown Police Department is mourning the passage of one of its long-serving officers, James F. DeLeone Sr., 58, who died unexpectedly of natural causes while visiting his father in Virginia July 8.
In April 2016 there were 342 calls for service, including three theft reports, eight domestic/assault reports, one fraud report and 10 traffic collision calls.
Hellertown Police Cpl. Jeff Johnston was promoted to sergeant during a swearing in ceremony at borough council's meeting Monday night--and he had his own cheering section in the audience.
