Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day a Fun Day for All (PHOTOS)

The 16th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day was held Saturday and drew hundreds of local residents to Dimmick Park, where more than 70 vendors representing dozens of local businesses and organizations were gathered.

The 16th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day was held Saturday and drew hundreds of local residents to Dimmick Park, where more than 70 vendors representing dozens of local businesses and organizations were gathered.

In addition to providing attendees an opportunity to catch up with old friends, the day was filled with music, demonstrations, food and much more.

The 2017 Community Commitment Award was presented to longtime Hellertown mayor Richard Fluck, who is retiring at the end of the year after 47 years of public service to the borough. Elected officials including U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent, State Sen. Lisa Boscola and State Rep. Robert Freeman were on hand to recognize Fluck.

Saturday was a good day to cool off with an ice cream treat, as temperatures soared into the 80s under clear skies.

En Avant School of Dance had activities to keep little hands busy.

There were plenty of freebies for little ones, including plastic fire helmets from Dewey Fire Company and inflatable hammers from Saucon Valley Handyman.

Local residents enjoyed a free concert at the conclusion of Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day. James Supra & Sarah Ayers performed blues-rock at the bandshell in Dimmick Park, and food and beverage purveyors were also on hand for the event.

Lower Saucon Police had plenty of items to give away, including lollipops and pencils. Kids could also be fingerprinted.

DiMaio’s in the Park has become a Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day tradition.

It was hot but fun work to make the delicious food dozens of Community Day attendees lined up for at the pavilion.

The Deadliners performed on the main stage in the afternoon.

Ice cream–a perfect treat for all ages.

“I’m all done Mom!” It wasn’t just little ones who were tuckered out after a full day of fun in the park.

Although the park was full of people, there was still room to run around and play.

The recently renovated Dimmick Park pavilion was a popular place to take a shady break while enjoying some food and a cold drink.

Everyone enjoyed Community Day, including some who walk on four legs.

The master of ceremonies Saturday was Colleen Albright, who along with others volunteered countless hours to organize and stage the event for the community.

Saucon youth cheerleaders were in attendance at Community Day, where they demonstrated their Panther spirit.

Lower Saucon Township Police Department had a booth at Community Day, as did Hellertown Police Department.

As the sun slowly set the sounds of James Supra & Sarah Ayers filtered through Dimmick Park, and another Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day came to a close.
