The Saucon Valley Alumni Association and the Saucon Valley School District is accepting nominations for distinguished alumni for a “Wall of Fame.”
Nominees must have graduated from Hellertown High School, Hellertown-Lower Saucon High School or Saucon Valley High School.
The nominee must demonstrate one of the following: outstanding accomplishments in a chosen field, significant and outstanding commitment to the community, significant positive impact on people (either locally or worldwide), or acts of service and contributions to humanity.
A selection committee will evaluate the nominees using a rubric. When applications exceed the number of available selections, their applications will be held over for two years but new or additional information pertaining to the nominee is encouraged. Distinguished alumni awards may also be awarded posthumously.
For each award winner an inscribed nameplate will be added to the distinguished alumni plaque in Saucon Valley High School. A special plaque will be given to the recipient or designated representative at a luncheon, which will be held at Saucon Valley High School.
Additional criteria are as follows:
- Anyone may nominate an alumni of said schools except the nominee (no self-nominations).
- The nominee must not be a candidate for an elected public office in the year of the award.
- If an alumnus/alumna has been previously nominated for the award, that person need not be re-nominated for two years, but (submission of) new or additional information pertaining to the nominee is encouraged.
- Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
- Only nominees of indisputable probity will be considered. If for some reason a nominee or distinguished award winner discredits that probity, the Alumni Association or school board has the authority to rescind the award or nomination.
