The Saucon Valley Leo Club–a high school-level chapter of the Saucon Valley Lions–welcomed a number of new members during a ceremony in the Chalet Room at The Meadows in Lower Saucon Township Monday.
Lions Club International District Governor Fred Folland was on hand to induct the new members, who were advised of their responsibilities to the service organization.
New members in attendance included Kayla Hart, Lauren Skillinge, Jason Rodenbach Jr., Holden Lau, Katya Yeager, Laura Gombocz, Daniela Sanchez and Austin Till.
The 2014-2015 Leo Club officers, who were sworn in by Folland, are President Rachel Fenstermacher, Vice President Kelsy Lysek, Secretary Alyssa Valladares and Historian Ashley Marino. The club’s treasurer is Vincent Bufanio.
Faculty advisor Martin Lewis was also present.
Leo clubs–a youth division of the Lions–originated in Pennsylvania in 1957, Folland noted during brief remarks.
The objective of Leo clubs is “to provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community,” as stated on the Lions International website.
