A Hellertown man was charged with terroristic threats after Lower Saucon Township Police say he “alluded to going to…’shoot up a school'” and allegedly told a friend in a text message that doing so was “‘a dream of his'” earlier this month.

Police said in a news release issued Tuesday that James Hackman, no age given, of the first block of W. Saucon Street, Hellertown borough, “was venting due to a recent argument with a relative” when he allegedly made the statements Dec. 4.

Authorities said that after they learned about Hackman’s alleged statements, “police responded to the residence to speak with (him), and while doing so kept in contact with local school officials.”

Police said that Hackman was cooperative with officers.

He was charged and committed to Northampton County Prison following a psychiatric evaluation at St. Luke’s University Hospital, according to the news release.
