In a brief news release issued Tuesday morning, Hellertown police said a 17-year-old borough girl named Aubrey Verba who was reported missing last week and later classified as a runaway  was located early Monday and released to the custody of her father.

Police said the 17-year-old Saucon Valley High School student was located at about 12:30 a.m. and is “no longer considered a missing juvenile.”

The stories about Verba that were published following an appeal for help from her parents were shared thousands of times on Facebook and generated intense public interest in the Saucon Valley area.

While Verba was missing her father Jeremy Verba said she was in contact with some people but hadn’t been in touch with her family.
