Saucon Valley 5K Walk/Run Will Benefit Local Cancer Patient

Friends and supporters of a Hellertown cancer patient have partnered with a local pub/restaurant to help raise money for her ongoing treatment and related expenses.

Friends and supporters of a Hellertown cancer patient have partnered with a pub/restaurant in the borough to help raise money for her ongoing treatment and related expenses.

The Braveheart 5K: Run Brave for Brews will be held Sunday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. on the Saucon Rail Trail and will benefit Amy Musser, a mother of two who was diagnosed with Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma–a rare type of brain cancer–in August 2016.

Musser is a well-known volunteer and business owner in the community, and also writes a column for Saucon Source.

The 5K is a run/walk that will begin and end at the Saucon Street rail trail connection in Hellertown, which is near Braveheart Highland Pub, 430 Main St., Hellertown, where participants will park in the restaurant’s lot.

Race packet pickup will begin at 10 a.m.

Participants will run or walk approximately 1.5 miles of the trail in Hellertown borough and Lower Saucon Township before turning around and ending back at Saucon Street.

After the walk/run, everyone is invited back to Braveheart, where participants are welcome to a beverage and to continue the festivities.

Tickets for the Run Brave for Brews are $25 each (plus a $2.37 fee) and can be purchased online.
