PennDOT announced Monday that work is scheduled to begin next week on a project to repair and resurface Easton Avenue in Bethlehem Township; a project that won’t be completed until June.

Easton Avenue will be milled and resurfaced between Willow Park and
Farmersville roads–a section of the major east-west thoroughfare that has an average daily traffic volume of between 11,637 and 16,617 vehicles.

“Starting Monday (April 2) and lasting throughout the duration of the
project, motorists should be alert for lane restrictions weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.,” PennDOT said in a news release. “Updates will be provided whenever schedules change.”

As part of the improvement project, the contractor will mill off the existing
roadway surface and repave the state highway with new asphalt.

“The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface,” the news release said. “The project also includes updating guiderail, repairing drainage inlets and installing new Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps.”

Hanson Aggregates Pennsylvania LLC of Allentown is the general contractor on the $642,936 project.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com.

511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay
warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more
than 825 traffic cameras.
