A 67-year-old woman died in a fire in the 900 block of State Road in Springfield Township, Bucks County, Thursday morning.

The woman, who has not been named publicly, was pulled from the rural home and died at the scene of the blaze after efforts to revive her with cardiopulmonary resuscitation failed, the Morning Call reported.

The newspaper cited township police chief Michael McDonald in reporting that numerous birds and a dog also perished in the fire, which may have begun as a result of an electrical issue but remains under investigation.

The fire scene was in a heavily-wooded area located in between Coopersburg borough and Richlandtown Pike, near the border between Upper Saucon and Springfield townships.
