Between football, shopping and stuffing yourself with…stuffing…it can be easy to forget what Thanksgiving is supposed to be about: sharing a meal and being grateful for the simple things in life. There was no lack of gratitude, however, at a free Community Meal for anyone in need held Saturday at New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lower Saucon Township.

The traditional Thanksgiving dinner was organized and prepared by volunteers from the Hellertown area–including members of the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397–under the direction of Pastor Rick Brown of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

It was enjoyed by dozens of local residents who gathered together for it, as evidenced by the many smiles shared in the photos below. Happy Thanksgiving!

There was a tempting variety of desserts served at the Community Meal.

A lot preparation goes into preparing a meal for nearly 100 people.

Kids helped, too!

This gent is over 100, 105 I think!
