The Saucon Valley Alumni Association will honor two distinguished graduates with induction into the Wall of Fame on Thursday, Nov. 21 at noon. The ceremony will take place in the auditorium of Saucon Valley High School. This year’s recipients are Nelson Griggs (Class of 1989) and Dr. Cristina Gonzalez (Class of 1995).
Griggs, currently residing in Connecticut, is President of Nasdaq, where he leads its Capital Access Platforms division. That division is comprised of Data and Listings, Index and Workflow and Insights businesses.
Griggs oversees and serves a corporate client list of over 10,000 along with 5,000 investor clients globally. He has held a range of leadership roles at Nasdaq since 2001, including Executive Vice President of Nasdaq’s Corporate Platforms business and Senior Vice President of New Listings and Capital Markets. Before joining Nasdaq, he worked at Fidelity Investments and a San Francisco startup. He holds a degree from Ohio’s Denison University.
Dr. Gonzalez, a resident of New York, is a Professor of Medicine dedicated to developing curricular interventions for physicians. She completed her medical education at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and specialized in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center. Her fellowship in medical education at the University of Cincinnati earned her a master’s degree in the field. Dr. Gonzalez has received accolades for her research on implicit bias in clinical encounters, including the New Investigator Award from the Association of American Medical College’s Research in Medical Education Committee and the NIH K23 grant from the National Institute for Minority Health and Health Disparities.
Nelson Griggs and Dr. Cristina Gonzalez will more than a dozen former students who have been added to the alumni asssociation’s Wall of Fame in recent years, including Stanley “Bud” Prosser (Class of 1954), Harry L. Rinker (Class of 1959), Jane Rieger (Class of 1962), Jane Werner (Class of 1977), Dr. Nicholas Kalynych (Class of 1977) and Glenn Hetrick (Class of 1990).
Former classmates, family members and friends are invited to attend the induction ceremony, which will culminate with the unveiling of the new names on the Wall of Fame plaque.
