Restaurant at Promenade Abruptly Closes

A popular dining establishment at Promenade Saucon Valley abruptly closed over the weekend.

Visitors to Bar Louie were met with signs taped to the restaurant’s front door that stated: “We regret to inform you this location is permanently closed. Thank you for the memories!”

Visitors to Bar Louie at the Promenade Saucon Valley were greeted by locked doors Monday. The only notice provided about the abrupt closure was in the form of signs taped to the doors telling guests the location has “permanently closed.”

Bar Louie’s location in Center Valley opened in the fall of 2015, and was one of the Texas company’s only outposts in the area.

Founded in Chicago in the early 1990s, the company that owns Bar Louie has struggled financially since 2020, when it first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy shortly before the Covid pandemic began. The company filed for Chaper 11 bankrupty a second time in March of this year and has since closed locations around the country, according to published reports.

The closure of Bar Louie at the Promenade leaves only one location remaining in Pennsylvania, at the other end of the state. As of Monday, in addition to the North Shore (Pittsburgh) Bar Louie, the company’s website listed 43 locations in 18 states. One location in Wichita, Kansas, was labeled “Coming Soon,” and the nearest location to the Lehigh Valley was in Maryland.

The Promenade Saucon Valley is home to a number of restaurants and other dining options. The shopping center is expected to welcome Barley Creek Brewing Company to its lineup in the near future. Recent additions to the lineup of eateries include Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls and the Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. More information may be found online.
