SVMS iTeam Makes Video About Crayola for Annual Manufacturing Contest
Our names are Micah G. and John C. We are 7th graders at Saucon Valley Middle School. We participate in our school’s iTeam. For 13 years, Saucon Valley Middle School has been involved in a local Lehigh Valley contest known as “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” As the thirteenth group of students working on the competition, we are very excited to be a part of this contest.

As participants, we were tasked with creating an original, entertaining video on the process of manufacturing. Every year, we receive a new manufacturing company to represent. This year, we are representing Crayola in Easton, PA.
Crayola products are high quality, and there are many colors and products to choose from. These products are used by different schools, children and people all around the world. Crayola products are sold in over 80 different countries as well as having 120 crayon colors.
Making this video has been so much fun. It’s been an amazing experience to become part of the iTeam family. We have learned so much and have worked on this video for many months, with hours and hours of editing and taping. This video taught us how to work collaboratively on a topic we really knew nothing about before. We learned how important manufacturing is to the Lehigh Valley. We also learned how manufacturing is not what we pictured. There are so many people and steps involved to create a product.
We had a lot of fun and learned a lot interacting with the employees on our field trip to Crayola. We had a chance to see all parts of their manufacturing process and view their machines in action. The entire process has been an amazing experience.
Participating in this contest has provided us with a deeper understanding of manufacturing. Everything we use daily is the result of manufacturing, created by someone who dedicated time to learn, engaged with the world to bring it to life and perhaps even shared their knowledge with middle school students to inspire them to explore and understand the world around them.
This year we are competing against 29 other schools in the Lehigh Valley. We need your votes and support to help us win this year. Saucon Valley has never won the Viewers Choice Award, which id determined by the number of votes received. Please support us! Voting starts March 17 and ends March 19. The awards ceremony will be held on March 25 at Stabler Arena.
Thank you!
