Well, the Colonial League regular season is all over. The Saucon Valley wrestlers certainly did not disappoint. The Panthers were able to go undefeated and continue their winning streak. With Wednesday night's 61-15 victory over the Palisades Pirates, Coach Chad Shirk's wrestling program has now won 73 consecutive Colonial League matches. In addition, the Panthers' efforts have earned them the #1 seed in Monday night's Colonial League Championship.
The Saucon Valley High School wrestling program, with good reason, seems to dominate the local headlines. Undefeated, seventy-two straight wins, and the pursuit of a seventh consecutive Colonial League title is information worth tracking. But, the root of our community's wrestling success is the youth program and it is certainly worthy of recognition as well.
For the 2020 high school football season, the Saucon Valley Panthers will welcome the Pottsville Crimson Tide and the Lehighton Indians to Hellertown as part of their regular season action. In 2020, the Panthers will also make the trip to Blue Mountain for a Friday night fight with the Eagles.
As the Saucon Valley wrestling program continues down the homestretch of the 2018-2019 Colonial League regular season, the Panthers are on pace for more greatness. In a cliffhanger victory this past week, Saucon defeated the Wilson Warriors and keeps their Colonial League win streak alive. In addition, the Panthers have locked up another appearance in the Colonial League wrestling championships. Saucon Valley has now won seventy-two straight Colonial League matches and are in pursuit of a seventh consecutive league title.
After an instant-classic type showdown with the previously unbeaten Wilson Warriors on Thursday night, Chad Shirk and the Saucon Valley Panthers stand alone as the Colonial League's only undefeated wrestling program. It certainly wasn't easy and the outcome definitely hung in the balance for the majority of the match. Nonetheless, the Panthers reached deep within, climbed out of a hole and escaped the Warrior threat.
Saucon Valley continues to dominate Colonial League wrestling. The Panthers remain undefeated this season and have now won seventy-0ne consecutive Colonial League matches. Getting ever closer to a seventh consecutive league title, Saucon took a road-trip to Palmerton on Tuesday night where they spent little time tending to their business.Â
It was another great week for Saucon Valley wrestling. On Wednesday night the Panthers hit the road and travelled to Bangor for a battle with the Slaters in Colonial League action. Saucon came home with a 58-15 victory and continues their quest for a seventh straight Colonial League title. The Bangor victory was Saucon Valley's 70th consecutive Colonial League win. Then, on Saturday, the Panthers participated in Souderton's 'Big Red' Duals.
Friday night the high school gymnasium was buzzing. Both the boys and girls varsity basketball programs took on rival Palisades. Even though the Saucon girls lost 48-28 and the boys fell 66-49, there was a little Panther celebration time taking place. In between the two basketball games, the Saucon Valley high school girls lacrosse program was honored for their back-to-back District XI championships.
