Another business in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley has closed its doors, adding to the Center Valley lifestyle center’s list of more than two dozen vacancies.
The Hellertown Police Department announced Wednesday that applicants are now being sought for the position of school crossing guard.
It’s been about 24 hours since a historic snowstorm ended with two-plus feet of snow on the ground for many in the Saucon Valley area, and a large-scale cleanup is under way.
The snow began to fall around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. By 5 p.m. Monday there was nearly a foot-and-a-half on the ground in Hellertown and it was still falling–heavily–with meteorologists warning that it could continue to come down all night.
A funny thing happened on Inauguration Day in the Saucon Valley School District, and probably a number of other local districts as well. Some students watched the presidential inauguration live, some students didn’t, and a number of parents, students, teachers and others on both sides of the decision in both cases became upset about it.
It’s going to look at little different this year, but the annual Winter Restaurant Week in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township will still mean delicious eats and good deals for area foodies.

Sunday was a true day of service for the two Lions clubs that exist in the Saucon Valley. The Hellertown Lions gathered to prepare and distribute a special holiday meal to local seniors, while the Saucon Valley Lions hosted a Spaghetti Dinner To-Go fundraiser.
It wasn’t much, but the snow that fell in Hellertown and throughout eastern Pennsylvania Wednesday was just enough to remind residents that winter is definitely on its way.
