On the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Christ Lutheran Church in Hellertown will host a viewing party for a livestreamed event from Hiroshima Peace Park in Japan.
Coopersburg native Ralph Mann (1923-2013) was just 21 years old when he parachuted onto Normandy Beach on D-Day as a “Red Devil” in the 82nd Airborne division. A member of "the Greatest Generation," he later shared some of his memories of World War II with his friend and pastor, Rick Paashaus.
relatively few women served in the U.S. Armed Forces in WWII, which makes the story of WAVE veteran Alma Davis of Coopersburg especially remarkable. Davis was honored by local organizations and politicians in a ceremony held the day after her 97th birthday.

Regina D. Brown, 94, of Hellertown, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. She served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the rank of Sergeant while serving in the European Theater.
