The approximate location of two crashes on Bingen Road in Lower Saucon Township on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015. Police say speeding and a wet road were factors.

In news releases issued Wednesday police said both crashes happened about two-tenths of a mile north of Quarter Mile Road.

In the first, shortly after 1 p.m., police said Arlene N. Darlington, of the 400 block of Geigel Hill Road, Upper Black Eddy, was northbound on Bingen Road “when she encountered a leafy wet roadway…which caused her to lose control of her vehicle and strike a pole.”

“The vehicle then spun out, crossing the roadway, and came to rest on an embankment,” police added.

Darlington was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital for treatment of shoulder pain and will receive a speeding citation, police said.

The second accident in that area occurred shortly after 8 p.m., when police say Amber Lee Lang, of the 100 block of E. Saucon Street, Hellertown, encountered a wet roadway as she traveled north.

“This caused her to lose control of her vehicle and strike a utility pole. The vehicle then spun out and came to rest in the opposite lane of travel,” police said.

Lang was cited for speeding, according to authorities.
