There will be an opportunity for members of the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for free destruction at the Lower Saucon Township Police Department on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The medications can be prescription or over-the-counter.
The following items will be accepted: prescription and over-the-counter solid medications (i.e. tablets and capsules), liquid medications, inhalers, creams, ointments, nasal sprays and pet medications.
The following products will NOT be accepted: intravenous solutions, injectables, needles, and illicit substances such as marijuana and methamphetamine.
The disposal program “is absolutely anonymous and all efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications,” according to a flyer. “No questions or requests for identification will be made by law enforcement personnel present.”
Participants will be asked to remove any personal information from bottles or packages that contain pills/capsules and liquids before placing the bottles or packages into the disposal box.
The police department is located at the township municipal complex, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem, Pa.
