Amid the produce and food vendors at Saucon Valley Farmers’ Market is a modest booth with a single item available: cold, refreshing lemonade. And to receive a glass all you have to do is donate any amount of money to a great cause.
The booth is anĀ Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation initiative–which raises money to benefit pediatric cancer research in memory of Alex Scott–and is a project of the Saucon Valley High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter.
The Saucon FBLA chaper has had a booth at the market in prior years, and donates the proceeds to the foundation.
FBLA president Kelsey Gatchel said last year the stand at the market raised $1,006, “so this year our goal is to beat last year’s total.”
The FBLA will be providing glasses of refreshing lemonade to donors through Sunday, Aug. 21. A donation jar is located on the table at the stand.
The market is located in Water Street Park, Hellertown, and is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from May through November.
