A Phillipsburg, N.J., woman was cited for careless driving and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway after Lower Saucon Township Police say she crashed her car at 8:19 a.m. Sunday on College Drive.

In a news release issued Tuesday police said Amber Heimer, 30, of the first block of Front Street, Phillipsburg, told officers “she was tired” and didn’t know if she had fallen asleep while driving.

“However, she was reaching for a cup of coffee when her vehicle crossed the lane of travel and crashed into a fence/tree on the opposite embankment,” police said.

Heimer’s vehicle’s airbag deployed and she was evaluated at the scene and released by Dewey EMS, police added.
