A Lower Saucon Township man who officers tried to stop because he was allegedly driving with an expired registration was later arrested for DUI, police said.

A Lower Saucon Township man who officers tried to stop because he was allegedly driving with an expired registration was later arrested for DUI, police said in a news release Sunday night.

According to police, Jeffrey Scott Herman, 48, of the 1300 block of Evergreen Drive, was driving a car with a registration that expired in September 2016 when an officer tried to stop him on Black River Road shortly before 11 p.m. Friday.

Herman allegedly continued driving to his home, in the process failing to stop for two police cars, the news release said.

“(Herman) was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and was taken into custody for a legal blood draw,” police said. “(Herman) did refuse a blood draw and is being charged with DUI, failure to yield for an emergency vehicle and driving with an expired registration.”

In Pennsylvania, refusal of a blood draw typically results in an automatic one-year license suspension if it is a first offense.

According to court records, Herman was also cited by Upper Saucon Township Police for allegedly driving a vehicle without a valid registration or title on Sunday.
