The Saucon Valley Panthers had six wrestlers advance into the second day of the Hurricane Holiday Classic. Senior Jason Jones (145 lbs.) and his brother Josh (126 lbs.) who is a junior both won their semifinal match and wrestled for a championship. Justin Kyra (138), Angelo Mahaffey (152), Thomas Spirk (160) and Dane Csencsits (182) all competed and found their way onto the podium.
As a team, the Panthers held 5th place after Day One. When all the wrestling was completed, the Panthers finished 4th overall. It was a very respectable showing for Coach Shirk and his Saucon Valley Panthers considering the number of big schools that participated!

Championship Bracket
126 lbs. Josh Jones (Jr.) is the 2017 Hurricane Holiday Classic 126 lb. Champion! He defeated Liberty junior, Travis Brown in style. Jones won by by major-decision (10-1).
145 lbs. Jason Jones (Sr.) lost by the slimmest of margins (1-0) in the Finals to Parkland senior Zach Ortman. Jones finished the Hurricane in 2nd Place. Ortman was 4th in last year’s PIAA (AAA) State Championship.
