An American Cancer Society fundraiser featuring buffalo wings and beer will be held in Hellertown’s Dimmick Park on Saturday, July 28, after organizers received permission from Hellertown Borough Council Monday to hold it there and sell alcohol.
“The Wings n Strings Festival will be a combination of local food and drink vendors as well as musicians coming together for a cause,” American Cancer Society Community Development Manager Mark Stankiewicz said. “We will be showcasing approximately 12 different wing vendors and around six to eight local breweries. In addition, we will be having local musicians playing original music during the festival. The event will be from 12 until 8 p.m. in Dimmick Park. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.”
At the meeting, council was told that there will be a single check-in point for the festival at which guests will be carded and given wristbands to wear if they are old enough to legally consume alcohol.
“I think it’s an interesting idea,” council president Tom Rieger said of the event.
Chief of Police Robert Shupp also stated that he had no concerns about the festival, after reviewing the information provided to him.
Stankiewicz said more details about the event will be released as the date draws closer.
