A Hellertown woman who was facing more than a dozen felony charges plus other charges in a case in which police say she repeatedly had sex with a 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty to one of those charges–statutory sexual assault–in Northampton County Court Friday, the Morning Call reported.
Based on sentencing guidelines, Bonnie Marie Rohn, 35, could receive a minimum jail term of two years when she is sentenced by Northampton County Judge Anthony Beltrami in January, and will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life under Megan’s Law, the newspaper reported, noting that she remains free on $50,000 unsecured bail pending sentencing.
Police in court documents said Rohn became acquainted with a 15-year-old boy with whom she subsequently began and maintained a sexual relationship over nearly nine months in 2017, in one instance recording a Snapchat video of herself taking a shower that was sent to him and also referring to their “relationship” in communication with the boy–who turned 16 during the nine-month period–via social media.
Rohn’s plea comes a little over a year after police said they received a report of “suspected child abuse” by Rohn on Sept. 26, 2017.
Following an investigation, police in early February charged her with four counts of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, four counts of Statutory Sexual Assault, one count of Unlawful Contact with a Minor, four counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault, one count of Endangering the Welfare of Children, one count of Corruption of Minors and four misdemeanor counts of Indecent Assault of a Person Less Than 16 Years of Age.
The case appeared to possibly be headed to a trial over the summer, with Northampton County Assistant District Attorney Laura Majewski–the prosecutor in the case–telling Saucon Source Rohn rejected a proposed deal that would have her to plead guilty to two charges: one count of Felony 2 statutory sexual assault and one count of Felony 3 endangering the welfare of a child. At the time Majewski said the Commonwealth had no plans to extend any other plea offers.
A former model and 2001 graduate of Saucon Valley High School, Rohn has been represented by criminal defense attorney Erv D. McLain of McLain & Associates in Bethlehem.
